Whether you call it Kaizen, The Slight Edge (my personal favorite), or the Compound Effect… It’s essentially the same thing. These all speak to one key thing, and that’s consistency. Consistency is the key to unlocking your potential. It’s how you can achieve great things… even though you think you may not be able to. If you told me three years ago that I would be a professional blogger, fitness trainer, online coach, and have the exercise and diet habits to back it all up… I would have laughed at you. How did I get here? Consistency. Small actions every day. I just keep moving the ball forward a little bit and magic happens. And whatever your dreams are… they can easily be realities… you just have to do the same thing.
Consistency Is The Key To Unlocking Your Potential
Part 1: Instant Gratification
Here is the major stumbling block for all of us (including me). Instant gratification. It’s what we have grown up to expect with fast food, conveniences, mobile devices, etc. These things make us expect things WAY to fast. These things put us in an “instant gratification mindset”… one of the most damaging ways to think about life.
Instant gratification will assist you in making poor decisions in every aspect of your life. Quick and convenient over right. You don’t have to learn anything and you don’t have to really think. It just supposed to be automatic.
The number one thing you can do, before we even talk about consistency, is lose the instant gratification mindset. Anything worth doing takes time, effort, failures, struggles, and yes… consistency. And you have a lifetime to get it right… so you might as well.
